We can be encouraged, though, in remembering that church is not a place for only those people who have it all together. No way! Church is for saved sinners: those who come in the door needy for the means of grace (which is the blessing and strength we receive from worship, the preaching of God’s Word, prayer and other components of the church service).
People haven’t come to watch you play the piano, or at least I hope they haven’t. Rather, they have come to worship God. That fact separates the time of worship apart from any other musical concert or performance because it’s not about you!
As believers, our confidence is not in ourselves. The great news, is that in any area in which we are serving the Lord, or seeking to be a functioning member of the local church, we can trust that God will give us what we need to get the job done in a way that is pleasing to Him.
